Decisions Decisions

As silly and naive as it sounds, I've discovered that wedding planning is not a walk in the park or as fun as I thought it would be. Is it fun? Yes, it's kinda fun, but at the same time it presents you with all kinds of different, hard to make decisions. Example 1: In what state do we have the wedding? When his family is from Florida and mine is from North Carolina, what state do we pick?! Sure, Florida has lots of venue options, but so does North Carolina! And NC is cheaper, but regardless of where we have it, someone's family will have to travel...

On that note, the main man also just informed me that he wants a beach wedding... I have several issues with beach weddings. Let me preface this by saying that this is just my opinion and to each his own, and everyone's wedding is beautiful in its own way. So with that being said, here's my take on beach weddings - first of all, they're great... IF it's your second wedding, or you're renewing your vows, or you're trying to save money which is a great option! (Who wants to start their lifetime commitment with their partner in a crap ton of debt due to a lavish over the top wedding?) Also, I've been to beach weddings, a lot of them. It's hot, humid, the weather changes at the drop of a hat, and seriously, who the hell wants a bunch of old, gross, beach goers in bikinis and speedos standing around watching their wedding or photo bombing their beautiful wedding portraits? I recently read in a popular wedding magazine that the beach goers add to the "charm" of a beach wedding... they've obviously lost their minds.

At least in the midst of all this discussion we did figure out a few things: the wedding color scheme (purple and gold), the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and the fact that we do in some way want the beach involved in our wedding (but I'm leaning towards a reception on the water). Andddddd that's about it. Yeah, sad I know. Definitely going to put together one of those intense, super organized wedding binders and get to work on this planning business. Wish me luck y'all.
